Welcome to Current Concepts in Emergency Care. 2008 marks our 29th year of excellence in medical education. Again, we are including a pre-conference workshop, Managing Cardiac Emergencies Year 2008.
Target Audience
This course is targeted to Emergency, Primary Care, and Critical Care Physicians, Nurses, Paramedics and Physician Assistants.
Course Objectives
Our objective is to present a program that addresses many of the controversial areas of emergency care. After attending this year's program you should be better able to differentiate and treat the critically ill patient, evolving MRSA infections, syncope, hemorrhagic stroke, hypertensive emergencies, as well as discuss the issue of risk management. In addition you will be able to describe the management of orthopedic problems in the ED, when and how to read an abdominal CT, how to use technology and point of care testing to improve patient care and flow. What are the options for pain management and how to manage injuries and infections of the hand? You will be able to discuss recent changes in technology to improve outcome from cardiac arrest. A review of recent literature and LLSA articles will keep you current. Finally you will understand how to manage the ventilated patient in the ED, and Supraventricular Tachyarrhythmias. On a limited basis you will experience hands-on exposure to the use of ultrasound for vascular access and abdominal pain. Plus on a limited basis a hands on would management session will take place. All meeting syllabus material will be provided on a CD in PDF format, so bring your laptops.
